Yes, it is possible! Afterlife communication is possible because love transcends time and space. Love is eternal providing the heart connection to communicate with your loved ones in the afterlife.

I have found that communication with our loved ones in the afterlife is just as important to them as it is to us. Many times, they need closure – just as we do. This is especially true when their "death" was sudden or they feel the need to ask you for forgiveness. I believe asking for forgiveness is part of our soul’s growth – even after we have made our transition to the afterlife. I have found many people are fearful or do not think it is possible to communicate with their loved ones in the afterlife. I believe this fear is due to a lack of understanding that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Spiritual beings communicate with mental telepathy and emotions; therefore, when learning mediumship we are simply remembering what we already know.

I am frequently asked questions as to my belief system and how I developed my abilities. I have provided this information in the format of an interview. My intent is that sharing this information will help others gain an understanding of afterlife communication and mediumship.

For those not interested in developing their mediumship abilities but in communicating with their loved ones in the afterlife through a spiritual medium, I have provided guidelines and other information I think is important to consider when selecting a spiritual medium.

Q: Do you believe in God?
A: Yes. In my late 20’s, I became involved with Al-Anon, a 12-step spiritual support group for families and friends of alcoholics. With the love and support of the people in this wonderful program, I developed a loving personal relationship with the God of my understanding and with myself.

Q: Sharlette, how did you develop your gift?
A. Developing the ability to communicate with the afterlife took hard work that consisted of self-discipline, study, meditation, and a burning desire to make contact with my mother in order to honor our promise. From my contact with my mother and other loved ones, I now KNOW and not just BELIEVE that we don’t die. I was so comforted by this knowledge that I decided to share this information with others. I work today providing this service to others – until they develop their own connection.

Q: Is mediumship something only "special" people can do?
A: No. If I can do it, you can too! Each and every one of us possesses the ability to communicate with those who have made their transition to the afterlife. As a child I was taught that I was a human being with a spirit. I now know that I am a spirit being having a human experience. Spirit beings communicate with mental telepathy and emotions. We are all mediums because this form of communication is our heritage. We just have to "remember" what we have forgotten.

When developing your abilities, I think it is best to be balanced in both the spiritual and psychic areas of your life. I do want to emphasize that developing your personal relationship with the God of your understanding is very important. It is because of the love of God that we are able to communicate with our loved ones on the other side.

Q: What is the first step in learning mediumship?
A: The first step to developing your own abilities is to determine your intent. Why do you want to contact your loved ones, angels, or spirit guides? Your intent is very important. It should be from a sincere desire to be of service to others or because of another spiritually motivated reason.

Q: Can you provide any tips about what to look for in a communication session:
A: Be realistic. Do not have a "fixed" idea of the type of information you will receive. Keep an open mind and know that many times it is the small bits of information that will provide the most validation.

Be prepared for loved ones you least expect to join in the communication session, even loved ones you don’t know.

Know that there are times when the connection to the other side is weak and times when it is strong. I believe this is due to the communication skills of your loved ones in the afterlife and your energy flow.

Use short answers when responding to information received, such as "yes", "I understand", or "I don’t understand."

Skepticism is a good thing, but please set it aside during your communication session.

Get references. You very seldom choose a doctor, attorney, church or any other service without asking friends or family if they have used them and how the service was. Selecting a spiritual medium should be no different. If no one you know has gone to them, ask the individual for a list of references. Spend a little time getting to know them if you are serious about your intention to receive a good in-depth communication.

Know what to expect. If you have never been to a spiritual medium or psychic before, ask them before you make the appointment what to expect in your session. Know what you wish to get out of a session and if what they propose is not to your liking, ask for clarification or choose another spiritual medium. Promises. If the spiritual medium or psychic promises you that they will contact the exact person you are wishing communication from – run. A spiritual medium is just the channel and the loved one you are seeking to communicate with may choose not to show up. So far my experience has been that the loved ones do show up at some point in the session.

Q: What do you think is the most important experience a person can receive from a communication session?
A: I think the most important thing is to know that we don’t die and that your loved ones continue to be involved in your daily life. Also know that God guided you to read this article for a reason. Your loved ones, angels, and spirit guides are with you on a daily basis. They have your highest good at heart and assist you in many ways. Communication is as important to them as it is to you.
